BrazilMet 0.5.0 (2026-10-02)

New functions

• water_balance(): sequential water balance (Thornthwaite-Mather) for any time step and available water capacity.
• fill_gaps(): fills short gaps in daily weather data by linear interpolation (optionally by climatology) and flags the filled values. Rainfall is deliberately not allowed.
• New tutorials for water_balance() and for the ETo workflow with gap filling.

Improvements

• Download functions now send a browser-like User-Agent, since the INMET server resets connections from the default R client, and no longer change the user's timeout option.
• download_AWS_INMET_daily(), hourly_weather_station_download(), download_climate_normals() and max_eto_grid_download() fail gracefully (a warning or message instead of an error) when the data cannot be downloaded.
• hourly_weather_station_download() now warns when no data is downloaded.
• The ETo and design ETo tutorials use datasets bundled with the package instead of downloading data while building the site.

Bug fixes

• max_eto_grid_download(): the monthly products (max_jan to max_dec) failed because of a wrong variable name; product and dir_out are now validated.
• water_balance(): actual evapotranspiration (etr) can no longer exceed etp, so def is never negative.
